Suresh (President) is an alumnus of IIMC (class of 1985), a marketer who turned from right-brained advertising to left-brained analytics, from corporate to entrepreneurial life in 2000 in Singapore. A person who shunned statistics and maths in college, he now runs an AI and big data start-up, revenge for all the classes he missed. He loves being the provocative force in the room, and working with sparky people, who see things as they think it should be, and not as they are. Reading, playing cricket, music, dogs, working with the entrepreneur and alumni communities leaves his days packed.
Nayantara (Vice-President) is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad (class of 88). After an exciting 25+ year international career in consumer products, she is now on a journey of learning and contribution in new industries, as a Board Director and consultant, as well as the alumni community. Nayantara is a crossword fanatic and puzzle buff, an avid reader and a diversity passionista – a strong believer that different diverse people get more amazing things done.
Deepika (Secretary) is an alumnus of IIMA class of 93. Her career includes over 25 years of work experience in the financial services industry. She is now on a re-learning journey, pursuing a PhD at SMU. Deepika reads, writes, blogs, and enjoys working with the alumni community, as she is a strong believer in giving back and mentorship. Interesting fact: one of her annual goals is to complete all the books included in the business and history sections of FT’s best books recommendations! And share what she learnt!
Ashoke (Treasurer), an alumnus of IIMC class of 1989, loves sports and once played almost every game that connects with a ball or a shuttle. And he’s into mind games as well: Bridge. A serious F1 fan, he also loves reading, music, travel and photography. While Ashoke has more than 25 years of leadership in Asia and Middle East in top MNCs, he currently combines his nous in finance and his love for sports, double hatting, as an entrepreneur commercialising new sports formats, as well as being the Partner-M&A at FT Consulting.
Anand (Event Convenor) is an alumnus of IIMB (class of 1994), an engineer turned professional investor, in multiple asset management companies. An early arrival in Singapore, immediately after his MBA, he returned in 2015 because he missed it. Anand says he is a boring numbers man who believes a good return is a great success, a keen follower of economic history and politics, and keenly into activities to make a difference to community and society, when not travelling.
Also joining us in the Exco is Vandita Pant (President of IIM Lucknow alumni), a banker who made an unconventional switch to natural resources sector, a risky bet that paid off as she leads the global Commercial function now. She is a champion of leveraging corporate influence and scale for making a wider difference in our world. In her spare time Vandita loves immersive travel. Vandita has visited 70 countries, and reads at least 50 books a year. That’s prolific resource management for you.
Meanwhile, Latika Ahuja and Saurab Nair from IIMA, Manish Joshi and Rahul Singh from IIMB, Arvind Sankaran and Pooja Sharma from IIMC and Priya Sengupta from IIML continue to serve as chapter representatives.
The new office-bearers hope to set out a bold plan for 2021 and beyond.
