Arvind Sankaran (IIMC PGP 1988) and Shireesh Joshi (IIMB PGP 1989) with other members of their Singapore-based rock band Bandwidth- Sameer, Bipin, Vish, Satchit, Ankur & Saurabh- launched a fund-raising campaign “Bandwidth- Apart Yet Together” to successfully raised $60,000 for covid-affected gig workers and their families in Singapore. They overcame logistical challenges by using home recordings, professional sound and visual mixers and live webcast technology to operate from 10 different locations and stage a globally web-streamed concert on 23 May 2020- from idea to execution in 6 weeks! They partnered with various local and overseas partners, in particular Ray of Hope, a highly-regarded giving platform. Their fund raising campaign “Bandwidth- Apart Yet Together” galvanised 600+ individuals in the community- many of whom are IIM alumni who have supported the amateur band over their 15-year journey- to enjoy the 1-hour live event and to actively participate in a COVID-19 giving effort. Bandwidth hopes that their humble effort serves as a “highly empowering idea that can encourage many other ordinary heroes like us, to step forward do more good“.

Their initiative was among those nominated for the Singapore President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Award 2020. To relive moments from their webcast and to follow the band, go to:
