As the #BreatheLifeIntoIndia initiative enters week 5, the results of efforts by the team and the broader IIM alumni community in Singapore have begun to make a difference on the ground. #BreatheLife has funded and sourced close to 2150 concentrators, and also assisted in sourcing 16000+ cylinders, 150 concentrators and over 13 PSAs (oxygen plants).

6000 of the cylinders have arrived in India, and are being deployed in hospitals and quarantine centres across various states (Karnataka, TN, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Orissa).

8 of the PSAs (oxygen plants) have arrived in India and are being deployed across hospitals in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

750 of the 2150 Oxygen Concentrators will arrive in India by the end of the week, and be deployed to hospitals in Punjab and Tamil Nadu, mainly through the Singapore Red Cross partnership. The balance 1400 will be deployed by mid June.

All remaining units sourced will arrive in India and be deployed by the third week of June.

Nearly half of our cylinder effort was done jointly with ACT Grants, Swasth Alliance and Delhivery, and facilitated by the fantastic Singapore ecosystem led by Temasek, with support from PSA Singapore and Kerry Logistics. The #BreatheLife sourcing team helped partners source from suppliers across the globe. The team invested time in vetting suppliers, identifying the various logistics options and navigating customs challenges to ensure delivery to the end point.

These results are a testament to what is possible when a diverse team of IIM alumni with various managerial skill-sets come together overnight to rally around a common cause. Since the start of fund-raising on 1May, and the first coordination meeting with Singapore Red Cross on 3 May, a substantial part of our procured supplies have begun hitting the ground – a month of well-spent effort!

About #BreatheLifeIntoIndia:

Pan IIM Alumni, Singapore (PIIMA) has raised over SGD2MM from individuals and corporates via Giving.sg in partnership with the Singapore Red Cross, and on the Milaap platform with United Way Bengaluru (UWB) as the beneficiary NGO. These partnerships enable PIIMA to work through the approved channels to assist in procuring urgently needed medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, cylinders and other such items, in aid of those affected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India.

PIIMA has also provided managerial assistance in sourcing, procuring and shipping supplies in conjunction with the Singapore Red Cross, UWB-Swasth Digital Health, and other on-ground partners in India and Singapore, and suppliers globally. These efforts do not involve the raising or managing of any funds, and are restricted to connecting the parties.
